A Cleric who faked his own kidnap twice in Plateau State has been arrested by operatives of the State Police Command.
The Spokesman for the police in Plateau, DSP Alfred Alabo said the cleric, Albarka Sukuya had faked his kidnap twice prompting his church members to contribute N400,000 and N200,000 on both occasions to secure his release.
Alabo said Sukuya was then invited following suspicions by the Divisional Police Officer, Nasarawa Gwong Police Station, CSP Musa Hassan who was able to establish that the suspect has been conspiring with his gang to stage his kidnap and fraudulently collect a ransom.
The Police confirmed that Sukuya confessed to committing the crime while he also disclosed how on January 1, he set ablaze the vehicles and a bicycle parked at ECWA Jenta, Apata premises belonging to his colleagues.
