The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed reports of a proposed strike by some officers.
A statement by the Force Spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the supposed report of a planned strike by policemen over six-month unpaid arrears was not possible.
He added that Police Force is not a labour union or group where its personnel meet and deliberate on protest or strike, considering the regimented nature of the organisation.
He, however, noted that the police remain open to the prospects of improvements in welfare of officers under the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
The statement was in reaction to claims by an online news platform, SaharaReporters, that policemen were planning a mega protest in Lagos over alleged six-month unpaid arrears.
According to the online platform, only grade levels 03,04,05,06 and few 07 police officers were paid arrears while those in grade levels 08, 09, 10 and 11 were not paid, saying sources added that Assistant Commissioners of Police up to the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, had however been paid four months arrears.
