The independent National Electoral Commission has announced Ahmadu Fintiri of the People’s Democratic Party as the winner of the governorship election in Adamawa state.
According to INEC returning officer, Mohammed Mele, Fintiri polled a total of 430,861 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aisha Ahmed Binani of the APC who polled 396,788.
Earlier, INEC had instructed the Administrative secretary in the state, Adamu Gujungu, to take the place of the erring resident electoral commissioner, Hudu Yunusa Ari, who abruptly announced Binani of the APC in the absence of the returning officer, Mohammed Mele.
Recall that the commission suspended the march 18 Governorship elections in some parts of the state following reports of irregularities and misconduct, leading to a supplementary election held on April.
