The Nigeria labour congress says the national may day celebration in Abuja will be held on the streets, to enable congress deepen its reconnection with the people.
In a statement today, general secretary of the congress, Emmanuel Ugboaja, said the government’s decision to deny the it from using the eagle square for this year’s may-day celebrations has warranted the action.
Ugboaja stated that the take-off point will be at the national headquarters of the Nigeria labour congress, while assuring workers of continued commitment to traditions and values of the congress.
Earlier, NLC had accused the federal government of withdrawing permission to use the eagle square for the workers day rally, just three days to the celebration.
