The Nigerian police says it has begun interrogating the suspended Adamawa state resident electoral commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-ari, over alleged misconduct during the April 15 supplementary governorship poll in Adamawa state.
In a statement by the force public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Yunusa-ari and other suspects were in police custody following an order from the inspector general of police.
Earlier, prior to his arrest, Yunusa-ari in an interview, maintained that he acted in accordance with relevant laws in declaring the APC candidate, Binani, as winner of Adamawa governorship election, before it was overturned by the national headquarters of the electoral empire in Abuja.
He also denied receiving 2 billion naira to pull off the electoral stunt, insisting that he never demanded any gratification from Binani or Fintiri.
