The United Nations humanitarian response plan has appealed to world leaders to aid displaced persons in the Sudan crisis with more funding to ease humanitarian operations.
In a statement today, head of U.N office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs in Geneva and director of the coordination division, Ramesh Rajasingham said 25 million people need humanitarian aid in sudan, the highest number ever seen in the country.
On his part, assistant high commissioner for operations at UNCHR, Raouf Mazou said the funding requirements of nearly $3 billion is the highest for any humanitarian appeal, stating that the Sudan situation is critical.
The conflict between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary rapid support forces (RSF) has displacing more than 700,000 people inside Sudan and forcing about 200,000 to flee into neighboring countries.
