A Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has today granted an application for an extension to remand afrobeat singer Seun Kuti for additional four days.
Council to the police Simon Lough (SAN) moved application for the extension stating that it will allow the police ample time to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
The Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatubosun, approved Kuti’s remand while adjourning the case to May 22 for mention and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward a copy to the state director of public prosecutions for advice.
The magistrate had earlier granted Seun kuti bail in the sum of one million Naira with two sureties in like sum, at the end of a previous 48-hour remand.
Kuti was arraigned on Tuesday for assaulting a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge on May 13
