Russian President Vladimir Putin has paid tribute to pilots killed in the short-lived mutiny by the Wagner group and expressed his thanks to those who opposed the rebellion
Putin said in a televised broadcast that the bravery and sacrifice of the pilots saved Russia from tragedy and destruction.
According to Putin, all attempts to instigate unrest in Russia were unsuccessful, while simultaneously attributing the blame for the incident to the Russian enemies.
Earlier, in a recorded conversation, leader of Wagner group, Yevgeniy Pregozhin stated that he his march on Moscow was to prevent the dissolution of Wagner’s private military company.
Meanwhile, Putin also thanked Belarusian president alexander Lukashenko for mediating with Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin to call off the armed group’s advance on Moscow.
