The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, today presented Staff of Office to ten out of 11 High Chiefs of Ibadanland elevated to beaded crown-wearing kings, at the ancient Mapo hall, Ibadan, the state capital.
Makinde said he was only at the event to present the instrument of office as expected of him as Governor, stating that the chiefs were appointed in accordance with the laws of the land and not his choice or decision.
According to the governor, at a time he was against the crowning of some monarchs but that he had learnt better and seen things more clearly especially since the request was made by the Olubadan himself.
Meanwhile, former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, who would have been the eleventh monarch, was absent to receive the crown.
all the newly coronated kings are now the Chairmen, Traditional Council of their respective Local Government Areas within Ibadanland.
