The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state, Ladi Adebutu has called for the impeachment of Governor Dapo Abiodun for allegedly diverting the statutory Federal Allocation due to the state’s local governments in the last two years.
Adebutu through his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya said allegations by the Chairman, Ijebu East Local Government, Wale Adedayo that zero revenue was allocated to local governments since 2021 established that the governor has violated the constitution and committed an impeachable offence, hence he must be punished.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the government, Lekan Adeniran, has denied the allegation, stating that local government allocation is handled by the constitutionally recognised Joint Account and Allocation Committee (JAAC) and not individual or private institution.
According to Adeniran, the State government often augmented the allocation to aid local government for optimal performance, faulting reports of financial misappropriation while warning mischief makers to desist from spreading fake news and heating up the polity.
