President Bola Tinubu has condemned the military takeover in Gabon, expressing his deep concern over the socio-political situation in the country.
Senior military officers ousted long term president Ali Bongo in the early hours of today, hours after he was declared winner of a third consecutive term.
Spokesman for President Tinubu,Ajuri Ngelale, told journalists that Tinubu having made personal sacrifices to restore and protect democracy in Africa would not allow constitutional practices to perish in Africa.
Ajuri added that president Tinubu is watching developments in Gabon very closely with deep concern for the country’s socio-political stability and the seeming coups apparently spreading across different regions of the continent.
Tinubu’s reaction comes as the economic community of west African states continues to ponder on a final decision over the treatment of the junta in Niger republic who are been backed by fellow putschists in Mali and Burkina Faso.
