The Lagos State government says it has paid N2.017 billion as retirement benefits to 644 of its retirees which represents the retirees’ past service benefits prior to the commencement of the contributory pension scheme in 2007.
Director-general, Lagos state pension commission, (LASPEC), Babalola Obilana, disclosed this at the 101st batch retirement bond certificate presentation for retirees in Lagos State, noting the event was organised to celebrate a significant milestone and exceptional retirees who had dedicated their time, energy and talents to the service of lagos state.
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo Olu assured pensioners and workers alike that his administration will continue to identify and recognize hardworking individuals and rewarding them accordingly.
Permanent secretary, Lagos state ministry of establishments, training and pensions, Olawale Musa, lauded the governor for prioritising the welfare of public service workforce even in retirement while advising them to be prudent with their resources and mindful of investment choices.
