National Executives of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) have accused the Oniba of Iba, Oba Sulaiman Raji and Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, Sola Giwa of instigating the plot that led to the suspension of the Association in Lagos State.
RTEAN’s National Welfare Officer, Albert Omotayo and National Social Secretary, Taofeek Ajayi both made the claim while featuring on Adamimogo 93.1FM’s magazine programme, Reflections.
They claimed the lack of patience exhibited by the faction that currently constitutes the caretaker committee running the affairs of the association prompted the suspension of the valid executives led at the time by RTEAN Acting National President, Musa Muhammed.
“We were in Abuja having our national Exco meeting when we learnt that there was crisis at Iyana Oba.
“Those people that caused the problem went to the Ministry of Transportation to say our bosses are fighting. They went with the Kabiesi, Oniba of Iba, to cause trouble at Iyana Iba, because they know that if they don’t cause commotion, government would not be able to carry out their actions,” Omotayo said.
Omotayo also pointed fingers at Giwa, insisting that his appointment was to protect the interest of those with, “pecuniary interests” in the Association.
They however appealed to the Lagos State Government to follow the directive of the National Industrial Court and restore the operations of the Association in Lagos.
Recall the Trade Union Congress on Friday threatened to protest on Monday unless the Lagos State Government lifts the suspension of the Association and obeys the order of the National Industrial court on the matter.
