Enugu State House of Assembly has elected Uche Ugwu, representing Udi North State Constituency as Speaker, while Ezenta Ezeani was declared the deputy speaker.
The new speaker, emerged from minority people’s democratic party in a house of 24 members with the Labour Party the majority with 14 members, while the PDP has 10 members.
In faraway adamawa, member representing Hong constituency, Barthiya Wesley and Buba Mohammed Jijiwa of Jada Mbulo emerged Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 8th Assembly unopposed.
Barthiya becomes the first physically challenged person to be elected leader of a legislature, after losing an arm to a crash years ago.
