The Federal Government has dissolved the Secretariat of the Advertising Standard Panel (ASP) over its approval of billboards termed as blackmailing the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
A statement by the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Olalekan Fadolapo, confirmed the suspension of two top officials for approving the billboard which caption All Eyes on Judiciary’
According to the statement, the suspended officials are the Director and Deputy Director Regulations of the council for approving the advert considered blackmail against the Nigerian Judiciary, particularly the Tribunal expected to discharge their judicial functions without fear or favour over a matter.
Fadolapo also stated that the Council would set up a committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the erroneous approval of one of the concepts of the advert and the breach of the vetting guidelines
He said the suspension of the officials is to enable an unprejudiced investigation of the issue.
