Benue State Governor Hayicnth Alia, has slammed the leadership of the Dunamis International gospel centre for erecting a substandard structure.
Speaking when he visited the site, the Governor expressed disappointment that none of the leaders of the church were on ground, saying the building was poorly constructed and would be revoked.
According to Alia, the Ministry of Works, Housing and Urban Development would step in, to ascertain the remote cause of the collapse, promising that appropriate sanction will be meted on guilty parties.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, who also confirmed the incident said one person died while residents were able to rescue four people, with the cause of the incident still unknown.
Eyewitness report say four individuals including the pastor were observing prayers at the church building before the incident occurred.
The church authority is yet to react to the incidence.
