The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA in Benue State have embarked on a total and indefinite strike in solidarity with one of their members who was abducted in July in Sankera.
This was made known in a statement signed by Chairman of the association Ushakuma Anenga saying the difficult decision to embark on indefinite strike action was taken after all efforts seeking the release of their colleague from captivity proved abortive.
According to Anenga, their demands are for the unconditional and immediate release of doctor Asema Msuega, stating there will be a massive protest of doctors on Tuesday 29 th August 2023, at the Government House Roundabout to terminate at the government house.
NMA also called on the Governor Hyacinth Alia, stakeholders and other well-meaning individuals in the state to wade into the matter to secure the release of the young medical doctor.
Recall doctor Asema Msuega, serving in Sankera General Hospital in Ukum local government, was abducted in July and has been in captivity since then.
