The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Ogun says four personnel of its Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A were murdered by smugglers in 2022.
This was disclosed by Acting Customs Area Controller, FOU, Zone A, Hussein Ejibunu during a news briefing.
The deceased officers comprise two Inspectors of Customs, and two Assistant Inspectors of Customs.
According to Ejibunu, the service intercepted and seized items worth N13.9billion in the year under review including 93,102 bags of foreign parboiled rice, and 656,414 litres or over 20 truckloads of petrol.
Other items seized are 108 automobiles comprising trucks, tankers, cars and motorcycles.
