The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu says the federal government will begin distribution of N25,000 grants to vulnerable pensioners across the country for three months starting in November.

Edu, who spoke during a meeting with a delegation of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) led by president Joe Ajaero, said the Vulnerable pensioners would be included in the expanded National Social Register of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) scheme.

On his part, NLC President Ajaero challenged the Minister to address the root causes of poverty.

Ajaero also urged the federal government to create more jobs through a productive economy where factories are functioning and employing workers.
