As Nigeria continues to commemorate the 63rd Independence Anniversary, a development Analyst suggests that corruption which is considered the country’s biggest challenge is being aided by Foreign Countries.
Speaking to, Adamimogo 93.1FM in Lagos, Ayodele Taofiq-Fanida said the economy of foreign countries were supported by looted funds from Nigeria and other African countries, hence, the seeming inability to fight the scourge completely.
“I recall a UK exchange programme where I interacted with my foreign counterparts and they kept highlighting how corrupt Nigeria is.
” I had to call their attention to the fact that their economies are being fueled by products of corruption.
“If these foreign countries stop the looting of funds to their countries and join Nigeria in taking decisive action against corrupt persons, their economies would suffer,” Taofiq Fanida said.
Taofiq-Fanida who acknowledged that the country was battling a leadership problem, said Nigerians must begin to query the intention of politicians before and after they are elected to ensure that they have the best interests of the country.
He, however, claimed that Nigeria at 63 was not doing badly when compared to other countries who gained independence within that same period.
