Former Chairman, Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Adeoye Aribasoye has emerged Speaker of the state Legislative arm while Bolaji Olagbaju representing Ado Ekiti Constituency II, emerged unopposed as the Deputy Speaker of the seventh Assembly.
Aribasoye, also a former Chief Whip during the immediate past Assembly, emerged as the Speaker unopposed following the proclamation of assembly by the governor, Biodun OyebanjI, in line with the constitutional provision.
In the meantime, An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, has ordered the remand of a former Speaker of Ekiti House of Assembly, Dele Olugbemi, and one Tajero Adebayo in state Correctional Centre over alleged fraud and attempted murder.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, said the defendants threatened violence and attempted to murder one Ogunyemi Aluko and another person.
The Chief Magistrate, Saka Afunso, ordered the remand of the defendants in the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre, pending the issuance of legal advice, before adjourning the case till July 3 for mention.
