The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has presented forms EC8A, EC8B, and EC8C of various polling units, wards, and Local Government Areas before the Kaduna Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
The tribunal, headed by Justice Victor Oviawe, had earlier ordered the Commission to present original copies of the documents based on the application of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the 2023 Governorship Election in the state, Isa Ashiru.
In his argument, the lead counsel to PDP and Ashiru, Oluwole Iyamu, SAN, challenged the authenticity of the results from the polling units, wards and local government, praying the court to retain original copies of the document to avoid tampering, which counsel to INEC, Abdullahi Aliyu, SAN, objected.
After considering the submissions of both counsels by Justice Victor Oviawe led panel, the case was adjourned till tomorrow for the continuation and cross-examination of INEC’s witnesses.
