The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Yusuf has appealed to the state government to provide succour to residents to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal by the federal government.

Speaking during plenary today, Yusuf commended the organised labour in the state for its show of understanding in the face of hardship, while advocating for patience to enable the President Tinubu led government implement plans outlined for different sector in the nation.

In the meantime, he also applauded residents of the state for conducting themselves lawfully despite the current discomfort, urging governor Yahaya Bello to leave no stone unturned in providing succour to the people.

The Majority Leader of the Assembly, Suleiman Abdulrazak had earlier raised a motion calling on Governor Yahaya Bello to set up a Monitoring Committee for the distribution of Federal Government Palliatives to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal.

The motion was supported by members who took turns to narrate the various categories of hardships being faced by Nigerians and called for urgent government intervention.
