Gunmen on Monday attacked a convoy of a former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, and killed four of his police orderlies in the process.
Reports indicate that Ohakim, alongside two of his children were returning from a visit when they were attacked at Oriagu in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
Ohakim who escaped by the whiskers had his backup vehicle bombed, leading to the death of the four policemen in his convoy.
A source close to the ex-governor disclosed that it took the decisiveness of the driver of the ex-governor for him to escape.
It was further learnt that reinforcement came from Owerri, the state capital and escorted him to his house.
