Members of the kogi state assembly have unanimously voted Yusuf Aliyu-Umar as the new Speaker of 8th Assembly while Paul Enema, representative of Dekina/Okura constituency, emerged as the Deputy Speaker of the house.
Aliyu-Umar emerged the speaker after he was earlier nominated by Rin Ebama-Shehu, from Lokoja I State Constituency, supported by Suleiman Abdulrasaq, representating of Okene 1 State Constituency and subsequently voted in.
In his speech, umar, expressed gratitude to God and his fellow lawmakers for the privilege given to him to serve Kogi in that capacity, pleading for collaboration from all stakeholders toward the advancement of the state.
Earlier, the clerk had read Governor Yahaya Bello’s letter of proclaming the inauguration of the state’s 8th assembly.
